Katy Perry equals chart record set by Rihanna

Pop superstar Katy Perry has matched an impressive chart record held only by Bajan beauty Rihanna, according to new figures from Nielsen SoundScan.

Both singers now have a phenomenal 9 U.S. No.1 singles under their respective belts and Billboard.com reports that its official chart began in the week of October 3, 1992, but Rihanna didn't appear on the scene until 2005 and Perry came even later in '08.

Meanwhile, the 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker is currently in Brazil to promote her debut concert movie 'Part Of Me 3D' and tweeted a message to her fans in the country last night (July 30) that expressed her excitement to be back there:

"SO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN BRAZIL! I hear you out there (and all of last night!) I might have some spare passes to the premiere tonight for the most dedicated... #KP3DINBRAZIL"
