Katy Perry honoured for humanitarian work

Katy Perry has been honoured with a humanitarian award for her work with the Dream Foundation charity.

The ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer accepted the prize last night at the Dream Foundation’s 11th Annual Celebration of Dreams Gala in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California.

Wearing an elegant pink and red floral gown, the star received the Founder’s Humanitarian Award at the ceremony which was held at the Barcara Resort and Spa.

The charity, founded in 1993, helps grant wishes to those facing life-threatening illnesses.

The gala also gave honours to American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, actress Marcia Gay Harden and Glee star Jane Lynch.

Perry last month celebrated her 28th birthday with recently re-elected US president Barack Obama's wife Michelle, joking that she would like to hold a party for her 29th at the White House.
