Representatives for pop beauty Katy Perry have declined to comment on the engagement rumours surrounding her.

The 'Wide Awake' singer has sparked speculation she is engaged to John Mayer after she stepped out wearing a ring on her wedding finger.

The raven-haired songstress was spotted with a ruby ring in the shape of a heart on the appropriate finger during a romantic night out with Mayer on Valentine's Day on Thursday - sparking speculation the singer-songwriter had proposed.

However, Perry's representatives have refused to discuss the rumours surrounding the state of the star's love life, telling ET Online: "No comment".

28-year-old Perry split from her husband Russell Brand at the end of 2011.

Speaking to CBS recently, Mayer suggested that marriage could be on the cards for him and Perry, saying: "Of course. I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do."

He also gushed about his relationship with the 'Wide Awake' star: "For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. I know it is high profile. It's hard to explain...For me it feels like something that's very human."

Mayer is famed for dating a string of Hollywood's hottest including Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
