Katy Perry "reconnected" with her love of music whilst making new album

Katy Perry has revealed that she went back to her roots and rediscovered her love of music whilst making her new record.

The singer is due to release her third major label album 'Prism' on October 22 and it seems the singer went back to basics whilst making it.

Perry told Radio.com that whilst cutting the album to tape, she discovered again the reasons why she took up music in the first place. The 'Roar' star said:

"I went to Stockholm and I made a lot of it in Stockholm and made a lot of it in my home town, Santa Barbara."

The singer, who suffered a marriage split between 'Prism' and last album 'Teenage Dream', continued: "And I just went and reconnected with the real reason why I wanted to be in music, because I felt like a had a perspective and like other people I was trying to bring the honest truth to the surface."
