Katy Perry: 'New single 'Dark Horse' is a warning to men'

Pop songstress Katy Perry has revealed that her upcoming new single, 'Dark Horse', was written as a message to men about the perils of falling in love with her.

She will release the track as the follow-up offering to her new album's lead single, 'Roar', and told MTV News that it is essentially a cautionary tale: "It's kind of a juxtaposition."

"It's got me, a pop artist, with a little bit of an urban kind of hip-hop-flavoured background soundtrack to it, and the lyrics are kind of witchy and dark, as if I was a witch warning this man not to fall in love with me, and if you do - know I'm going to be your last."

Perry's new record, entitled 'Prism', is due to be unveiled on October 22 and she recently admitted that it explores her journey of self-discovery rather than focusing on the darkness she has been through: "There's not really any darkness on the record. There's definitely some textures and colours but I think I was saying that when I was going through a different phase, but I really let that light in."
