Katy Perry bags UK No. 1 with ‘Roar’

Katy Perry has rocketed her way to the No. 1 spot in the UK singles chart with her latest effort ‘Roar’, giving her a fourth UK chart-topper.

‘Roar’ is the third fastest selling single of 2013 so far, right behind Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ and Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’, and is Perry’s fastest selling single in the UK yet.

“I love the UK!” said Perry upon hearing the news from the Official Charts Company. “The UK is one of the most important groups of people in the world for me because I feel like the UK is so ahead of the zeitgeist… They are the zeitgeist!”

The single dethrones Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’, which now sits at No. 2. Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ is at No. 3. Aside from ‘Roar’ other new entries to the singles chart include You Me At Six with ‘Lived A Lie’, which at No, 11 is their highest chart position yet, and London Grammar bag their second Top 40 hit as ‘Strong’ jumps into 17th position.
