Katy Perry: 'My new music video is a bit like the TV show 'Lost''

'Teenage Dream' beauty Katy Perry has likened her new music video for 'Roar' to the popular TV series 'Lost' and also 'Survivor'.

She made the comments during behind-the-scenes footage on the set of the cut and explained that she wanted to incorporate drama into a jungle setting:

"We are figuring out how to live in the jungle and survive. It's kind of like 'Survivor' and it's a little bit like 'Lost' and it's a lot of fun."

While 'Roar' has been incredibly successful, she came under fire from PETA for using real animals and was accused by the animal rights organisation of cruelty. PETA spokeswoman Merrilee Burke said: "What you may not know -- as most people do not -- is that animals used for entertainment in film and television endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods."

Following the potentially damaging remarks, Perry hit back with her own statement and confessed that she was very careful not to stress the animals out while shooting the clip: "American Humane Association was on set for the filming of the above referenced music video, which used an elephant, a monkey, birds and a tiger. After reviewing the reports, we believe that the Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media were followed and that no animal was harmed in the making of this music video."
