Katy Perry has offered some details about her next single.

The singer recently released the song 'Roar' as the lead track from her forthcoming new album 'Prism', which is set for an October 22 release.

Speaking to MTV, the pop songstress confirmed that her next official release will be "love" orientated and different from her last single. She said:

"It's a love song and it's different from 'Roar' - it's not eighth-notey."

The singer added: "I think it's a universal love song that everyone's going to be able to relate to no matter the age, no matter male or female. It's my favourite song off the record."

Perry meanwhile recently issued the track 'Dark Horse', but the song isn't a single release.
