Katy Perry on 'Prism': 'This album is me being raw and vulnerable'

Pop superstar Katy Perry has revealed that her forthcoming new album, 'Prism', signifies her growth and maturity.

During an interview with Graham Norton last night (October 19), the 'Roar' beauty explained that she wanted to move away from the candy-coated 'Teenage Dream' era now that she has changed as a person so chose a different style for this new offering:

"The last album was very cartoony and over-the-top and this one is a little bit more vulnerable, raw and a lot more present."

She also confessed that despite all of the hardships she has endured over the past few years, she wouldn't change anything because she has learned so many lessons along the way:

"I think if I'd made it at 17, I don't think I would be here now. I wouldn't have had the tools I needed to develop during that time. We all have a plan and then life comes in and says, 'I have a better idea'."

Perry added that along with showcasing a sound overhaul, she has also taken to a new look because she's getting to the age now where she doesn't want to be wearing such skimpy outfits on stage: "I like clothes to stay on now."
