Katy Perry achieves second No. 1 UK album with 'Prism'

Katy Perry’s ‘Prism’ has debuted at the top of the UK album chart.

‘Prism’ gives the California girl her second chart topping album in the UK. Her previous record ‘Teenage Dream’ hit the No. 1 spot back in 2010 and this week has soared a huge 91 places to reach No. 36.

Perry managed to outsell her closest rival by around 12,000 copies as James Blunt’s ‘Moon Landing’ has had to settle for the No. 2 slot this week.

Last week’s top-selling album, ‘Tribute’ by John Newman, has now fallen to No. 3, whilst Arctic Monkeys are still riding high with ‘AM’ as they climb up two places to sit at No. 4.

This week’s top five is completed by a new entry from Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli with ‘Love In Portofino’.

Another new entry to this week’s album chart comes from The Voice winner Andrea Begley as her debut album ‘The Message’ has gone straight in at No. 7 – making Begley the highest-charting Voice contestant yet.

Elsewhere Earth Wind & Fire have returned to the chart after an eight year absence with ‘Now Then & Forever’ at No. 25 and Poliça are new in at No. 33 with ‘Shulamith’.
