Katy Perry tells female pop stars to stop getting naked so often

Katy Perry believes too many female pop stars are getting naked in an effort to get noticed.

The US songstress has removed her clothes on a few occasions in the past but she told NPR that there seems to be a shift recently towards near-constant nudity.

Whilst the 'Prism' star named no names, the likes of Miley Cyrus and Rihanna are often criticised for showing too much skin.

Speaking about being a role model, Perry said: "I couldn’t tell kids when it’s time for them to try things or do things. I mean, that’s not my role. But...I do see myself becoming this inspiration out of default right now. Like females in pop - everybody’s getting naked. I mean, I’ve been naked before but I don’t feel like I have to always be naked to be noticed. But it’s interesting to see.”

She added: "I’m not talking about anyone in particular, I’m talking about all of them. It’s like, everybody’s so naked. Put it away, we know you’ve got it, I’ve got it too...And I’m not necessarily judging, I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to playthat card but also it’s nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck, but I don’t alwats have to use that card."

Katy Perry meanwhile topped the UK albums chart on Sunday (October 27) with her latest effort 'Prism'.

It is her second No.1 record in the country following the chart-topping 2010 release 'Teenage Dream'.
