Katy Perry says vulnerability and honesty set her apart from other singers

Katy Perry believes that her vulnerable nature and honest voice works in her favour.

The female pop scene is currently hotly contested, with the likes of Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Lady Gaga all hugely popular.

Speaking to Marie Claire, Perry said that she thinks her vulnerability and truthfulness can give her the edge over her competitors. She said:

"I feel like my secret magic trick that separates me from a lot of my peers is the bravery to be vulnerable and truthful and honest. I think you become more relatable when you're vulnerable. When you try to market yourself like some supernatural figurine who can't be f****d with, I always resort back to scripture."

The pop songstress added: "Pride comes before a fall. I'm never going to be lazy, because there are 500 other people waiting in line for this position."

Perry meanwhile performed at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball at the weekend in London as she continues to promote her new album 'Prism'.
