The vocal star will unleash her track 'People Like Us' in the country on June 23.

The song was released in her native US on April 8 and she has already performed it at her old stomping ground, American Idol.

'People Like Us' comes from Clarkson's 'Greatest Hits: Chapter One' collection and it follows previous singles 'Catch My Breath' and 'Don't Rush'.

As previously reported, the singer recently admitted that she is "so in love" with fiance Brandon Blackstock that she is beginning to annoy herself.

Writing on the social networking site, the beauty admitted that she's happier than ever and can't wait for the rest of the year's events to unfold: "Today is my 31st birthday! I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life and my career has never been stronger :)"

"Thank you God for such an amazing family , group of friends, and a fan base that is rockin'! For my birthday I get to put out a Christmas Album at the end of the year (It's sounding amazing!!), go on tour with @Maroon5 (gonna be killer), and GET MARRIED!! It's a big year people!! Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody! I really appreciate all of them :)"

She then shared a couple of photographs (shown left and below) from the day and added: "I woke up to sunflowers and a red velvet cake that my baby made me :) I'm so in love I'm annoying myself ha!"

The powerful singer won American Idol back in 2002 and she hit the stage again to play new track 'People Like Us'.

Standing in front of her self-confessed idol Mariah Carey, Clarkson performed the track with aplomb as her backing band rocked a neon rave look.

The former winner embraced Carey after performing, with the veteran diva at one point saying:

"I need your opinion on some of my new stuff - I love this song!"

'People Like Us' meanwhile comes off of Clarkson's recent retrospective collection 'Greatest Hits: Chapter One'.

The vocal powerhouse sat down for a live Q&A session with CMT Radio Live and explained that this year will bring a Christmas offering, but 2014 will see her working on a new collection of songs for her fans:

"We're doing a Christmas album, which will be out later this year. Soon after that we'll be releasing another record and that's going to be really cool."

"We're already working on that right now. That will be early next year, so I have two coming out!"

Clarkson is set to perform her new single, 'People Like Us', on 'American Idol' later this evening (April 11) and tweeted: "Okay. Tomorrow I'm performing at Idol in front of @MariahCarey. Pray for me. #PleaseDearGodDontLetMeSuck :)"

Writing on her official Twitter page this afternoon (March 22), Clarkson told her fans: "I'm so excited people are digging my new single! It's my favorite song I've ever recorded .... Ever! #PeopleLikeUs."

The song originally appeared on her 'Greatest Hits: Chapter 1' collection last year, but it will now be released as a single and is due to start getting radio airplay from April 8. She co-wrote the song with Greg Kurstin, who has previously worked with 'Closer' stars Tegan & Sara and P!nk, and he also worked with Clarkson on her chart-topper 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)'.

Meanwhile, the superstar is planning her wedding to fiancé Brandon Blackstock and recently told People magazine that trying on wedding dresses has been particularly stressful: I was in the changing room, and I looked at my armpits, and I was like, 'Are you kidding me? I look like a cave woman!' And then I took my pants off, and I was like, 'Oh my god, my legs match!' My nails looked like a hot mess; my eyebrows looked like bushes. I was so not a girl."

"I started tearing up because I'm like, 'This is not me. I'm usually not this gross. I'm just so busy!' And then on top of that, my friend got incredibly ill, like in the movie Bridesmaids. She's like, 'We are totally not going to get asked back here.'"

In a post on her official Twitter page, the former American Idol winner has disputed claims made by the music mogul in his new book 'The Soundtrack of My Life.'

In a long letter to her fans, Clarkson revealed that the 80-year-old industry legend is "spreading false information about [her] and [her] music."

She added: "I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis."

Clarkson goes on to highlight a couple of claims made in the book.

"First, he says I burst into "hysterical sobbing" in his office when he demanded Since You Been Gone be on my album. Not true at all. His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn't be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way.

But, yes, I did cry in his office once. I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called "Because Of You." I cried because he hated it and told me verbatim that I was a "sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me." He continued on about how the song didn't rhyme and how I should just shut up and sing. This was devastating coming from a man who I, as a young girl, considered a musical hero and was so honored to work with.

But I continued to fight for the song and the label relented. And it became a worldwide hit. He didn't include that in the book (sic)."

Clarkson also defended her album 'My December' in the post.

He also goes on to say My December wasn't successful because I co-penned the album and it didn't have "pop hits". Well, first let me say, I've co-penned many of my 'pop hits.'"

After ranting about Davis' memoirs, Clarkson signed off on a more positive note, revealing she loves her job, fans and her label.

She finished: "And I am grateful for Clive for teaching me to know the difference."

The 30-year-old singer rose to fame as the winner of the first season of the hit TV talent show in 2002.

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj joined the coveted reality show's judging panel this season alongside Keith Urban and returning mentor Randy Jackson.

Clarkson is a fan of the new format.

Speaking to Parade, the songstress revealed: "The show needed to be freshened up a bit. I’m a huge Mariah Carey fan. If I had seen her as one of the judges when I was trying out, that would have been so cool."

Clarkson also joked about her go-to karaoke song in the interview.

She added: "Definitely Eminem! I love doing rap songs because I’m terrible, and that’s what makes it funny."

The songstress has been dubbed the 'Breakup Song Queen' because of her powerful rock-pop songs.

Clarkson is now engaged to talent manager Brandon Blackstock, so expects that her song-writing will now take a different turn.

She said: "I’m in a different place romantically, a new chapter, but I’m sure Brandon will piss me off at some point and I’ll write a song that will please people!"

The songstress is engaged to be married to boyfriend of one year Brandon Blackstock and told People magazine that going shopping for the perfect gown highlighted how busy she had been and ended up making her emotional and sad:

Despite the initial setbacks, Clarkson confessed that she found her dream dress and it will probably surprise people: "(It's) my personality in a dress. It's sweetly damaged. A little rock and roll. A little tattered. Nothing like a princess dress."

Forbes magazine compiled a list (January 30) of the programme's contestants who earned the most throughout the past twelve months and Clarkson, who was the first 'American Idol' winner back in 2002, was at the top after taking home a cool $8 million (£5 million).

Country songstress Carrie Underwood and rocker Daughtry came in joint second with earnings of $5 million apiece, and season 10's winner Scotty McCreery is No.4 with $4 million.

Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks also make appearances in the Top 10, and powerhouse Adam Lambert was named seventh with $1.5 million. Forbes writes of his success:

"Extensive touring pushed this fan-favorite toward the top of last year’s list with $6 million in earnings. Lambert played fewer shows this time around, taking off to record new album 'Trespassing', which was released after the end of our scoring period (and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts with 78,000 copies sold its first week). Look for him to finish higher on next year’s list, thanks to that album and a new tour."

Speaking to radio station K-Frog, Clarkson, who is engaged to Brandon Blackstock, explained that they have asked country star Blake Shelton to play at their reception:

"Blake actually is going to play at our reception, so we're pretty excited."

She added that the actual ceremony might take place outside later this year as the weather would be perfect:

"We're just kind of overwhelmed with the planning of the wedding. We're actually thinking the fall this year. We're thinking outside. We are trying to make it small, but it is hard. Once you've got one person, you have to invite five others, and then five others... I literally had a breakdown two weeks ago about the wedding list."

"I'm actually terrified at everyone watching me walk down an aisle, that is like the worst thing ever."

The US songstress has famously struggled with her fluctuating weight in the past, but admits she doesn't care about competing with slimmer stars.

When asked if she would ever work "really hard" in order to achieve a "skinny" frame, Clarkson revealed in an interview with the February edition of US magazine Cosmopolitan:

"See, I'm not willing to do that. I'm willing to work a little bit because I want to be a healthy individual - which I always have been. I've put on weight, but that's just what I'm happy with at that moment. That's my life right then.'

Former American Idol winner Clarkson says she and fiancé Brandon Blackstock try to keep fit and healthy while on the road together though.

She explained: "Brandon and I both have bikes on the back of the bus, and we both love the outdoors. Once your lifestyle becomes more active, obviously you drop weight. I wish people would stop talking about it, but I'm used to it after a decade. And I'm from a small town, so everybody has something to say about everything. I've grown up that way."

Although the pair are now engaged, she explained to February's Cosmopolitan magazine that they first went out on the same day that her idol, Whitney Houston, had died:

"We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February... This is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date. I was like 'This is a bad omen'."

Speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine, which will be available in February, the 'Catch My Breath' singer explained that because she was unattached for a long time people would just assume that she was a lesbian, although the rumours never bothered her:

"People think “Oh, she’s been single for too long”, that’s kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay. But I’m never insulted by it, obviously."

Clarkson is now engaged to fiancé Brandon Blackstock, but added that she was always approached by beautiful women who hoped she might reciprocate their affections:

"I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian I would be so in luck. But it’s not just my thing. I’ve always batted for the boys’ team."

"But usually the guys who hit on me are tools. It’s the ones that don’t hit on you that make you like, 'Why didn’t you ask me out?'"

Speaking to the February edition of U.S. Cosmopolitan magazine, the 'Mr. Know It All' beauty explained that her relationship with fiance Brandon Blackstock encouraged her weight loss and she didn't go on a fad diet or actively try to burn excess calories:

"I lost 18 pounds. And I think that happens when you fall in love or date someone. If I'm going to be messing around, I gotta look good."

"There's not a fad diet. I was working with a trainer, and she said, 'You'd be amazed the amount of weight you can drop by halving your portions. I know it sounds crazy, but do it for two weeks and watch what happens."

While Clarkson credited her trim physique to falling in love, she added that all it took was to stop certain bad habits that were surprisingly easy to break:

"I just cut back my portions, I stopped eating late at night, and I work out a little more than I used to, and I literally dropped 18 pounds in a month. I think it happens when you get really busy. But when I'm on my off-time – girl, those 18 might come back."

The singer announced the news on Twitter saying: “I’m engaged!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and with the greatest man ever : )”

Clarkson, 30, had previously hinted at being in love with 35-year-old Blackstock so much that the relationship was “killing her creativity.”

Speaking last month, she said: "Our priorities kind of shift and you become happier, and all that stuff," she told The AP.

"It's probably my best accomplishment because I think, for me, especially, I just didn't think it would happen.

"It's like one of those cheesy love songs that didn't exist, but it does, so that's cool."
