Kelly Clarkson has called on Adele to release new music.

The British singer hasn't unveiled any new material since her 2012 James Bond theme single 'Skyfall'.

She has spent time out of the limelight after giving birth to her first child Angelo in 2012, but a new album has been mooted for next year.

Replying to an end-of-year tweet sent by Adele, Clarkson said that she simply "needs" new music from the 'Someone Like You' star in the near future.

The American Idol winner said: "That's awesome BUT I need new music from you :) Pretty please! U can sing about Simon, your kiddo, really anything you want!"

In her tweet, Adele denied rumours that she and partner Simon Konecki have split.
