Kelly Clarkson has achieved her third US No.1 album.

The singer recently released her new effort 'Piece By Piece' through 19/RCA Records.

Billboard have confirmed that the record shifted a total of 97,000 in its first week on sale to land at No.1 on their albums chart.

85.2 percent of that tally came through traditional album sales, not streaming.

Clarkson last topped the chart in 2009 with her effort 'All I Ever Wanted'.

The Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack meanwhile is No.2 on the chart.

Taylor Swift's ever-present '1989' rises two places to No.3.
