Kelly Clarkson on parenthood: 'I just don't want to raise a brat'

Songstress Kelly Clarkson has revealed that her biggest concern as a mother is that her child will grow up to be bratty because of how she chooses to raise her.

The hitmaker gave birth to daughter River Rose back in June last year and confessed to People magazine that it's a completely new challenge for her and one that has made her think very differently about life: "It's nice to have this little human and it's a blessing, but it's also such a responsibility."

"I'm like, 'How can she learn faster?' You just want to help them put their best foot forward and give them as many opportunities as you can - and make sure you don't raise a brat. That is our goal."

She went onto add that it's important to her to make time for her husband, Brandon Blackstock, and to nurture their relationship as a couple: "Us moms can get stuck in our houses with the kids. Sometimes it's really nice to just get outside [and] get your own identity back. As a couple, we think that date nights are important. We are both from broken homes and as a result you may not take time for yourselves as a couple. So we love our date nights."
