Kelly Clarkson on 'American Idol' coming to an end

'Heartbeat Song' sensation Kelly Clarkson has revealed that the end of 'American Idol' is quite sad because it's where she got her start in the music industry.

Speaking to Digital Spy this week, the hitmaker admitted that it's tough to see and she will be sad to see it go: "I know, it feels like someone's burning down my high-school."

Referring to the announcement that the show will no longer continue, she explained: "It's just supplying demand, people watch the show still, my guess is because I know Simon Fuller, he must have something else up his sleeve – like there's got to be something else coming. He's just too much of a creative person to not have another show or something, whatever that maybe – it might not be anything like a talent show kind of thing."

"I do think it had a great – it's such a big, huge part of American television history for us, and it was a cool thing to be a part of and especially coming from the original show, like nobody really knew what was going to happen. But I guess there is like 20 of us so maybe it is time."
