Kelly Clarkson writes children's book: 'I want to inspire kids'

Songstress Kelly Clarkson can now add the title of children's author to her impressive resume as she prepares to launch her first book, 'River Rose and the Magical Lullaby'.

The book was inspired by her daughter, River Rose, and the journeys they take around the world together. It will be on sale from October 4, 2016.

Tweeting about the exciting project this week, the vocal sensation wrote: "I’m officially a children’s book author! River Rose and the Magical Lullaby comes out this October! #NewProject."

She also spoke about creating the book and explained that she wanted to put her daughter's travel adventures into writing so that she has something to look back on when she's older: "It's always kind of a cool thing to be on a plane with my daughter when we're going on trips to the U.K. and Asia and Australia - all these amazing places that she was too little to remember."

"I started writing down these little fun stories, like when she went to Australia and got to hang out with some kangaroos... These little stories ended up turning into a book. I guess my hope is for little kids to read 'River Rose and the Magical Lullaby' and be inspired by it and know they can achieve anything."
