Kelly Clarkson confirmed for new talent show 'Duets'

Kelly Clarkson has been announced as a panelist on the forthcoming new vocal talent contest 'Duets'.

The 'Mr. Know It All' hitmaker has signed up to take part in the new televised competition, which will see her step out from behind a desk and onto the stage along with other judges Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles and Lionel Richie.

Each mentor will scour the U.S. for undiscovered talent worthy of performing live with and when each star has found his or her perfect duet partner they will sing together for a series of weeks during an elimination process that will eventually crown one pair as the winners.

Speaking about being asked to take part in the programme, Clarkson explained:

"The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can’t wait to be a part of!”

A statement from ABC reveals that the winner of 'Duets' will recieve an incredible prize: "Together the Superstars and their protégés will take the stage each week and perform in front of a live studio audience."

"In the end, only one duet will be at the top of the charts, and the winning amateur will receive a recording contract with Hollywood Records."
