Kesha forced to sell Nashville home in order to finance court battle

Kesha has been forced to sell her home in Nashville, Tennessee for $1.45m (£1.02m) through Sotheby's Real Estate, to finance her court battle with Dr Luke and Sony Music.

The Tik Tok star had an expensive legal battle with one of the world's largest record labels. She lost her court case on February 16, despite stating that Dr Luke had subjected her to years of sexual and verbal abuse.

Kesha bought the 4,800 sq ft Nashville home in 2010 for $1.4m (£986k) and placed it on the market in 2015 with an asking price of $1.55m (£1.09,) but had to drop the price as it hadn't sold. She has barely made any profit on the house in those 6 years.

Last year she also sold her cottage in Venice, California for $1.8m (£1.27m). She had bought the Spanish-style property only the year before in 2014 for $1.65 (£1.16m).

Taylor Swift donated $250k (£175k) to Kesha to help fund her court battle with Dr. Luke.

Last week the US star failed in a bid to be removed from a contract with the producer, who she claims drugged and raped her.

In October 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit alleging "mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault" at hands of the producer, who first worked with her ten years ago. She lost her case. The judge cited she would have to stay with Sony Records but did not have to work with Dr Luke anymore.

A rep for the '1989' star said: "In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time."
