Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh: 'Noel Gallagher said I'm his favourite member'

Songstress Kimberley Walsh has revealed that former Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher recently told her that she was his favourite member of Girls Aloud.

Speaking to Britain's The Sun newspaper about being approached to perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust shows, which Gallagher is organising for later this year, the hitmaker explained that he called her up and made the confession during their chat:

"Yeah, he called me up out of the blue. It’s great that he's involved and is arranging it. It was exciting to speak to him. I was like, 'Really?' He said I was his favourite [Girls Aloud member] and Sarah wasn’t very happy about that."

Walsh admitted that while she was really excited about the offer, she had to decline it as the dates clashed with previously confirmed Girls Aloud commitments:

"The Girls Aloud tour is around the same time so we couldn't make it work. I'm gutted that we can't do it."

Kimberley Walsh hopes boyfriend avoids Valentine's proposal

Girls Aloud beauty Kimberley Walsh would hate for her boyfriend to propose on Valentine's Day as it is too much of a "cliché".

The stunning singer has been in a relationship with Justin Scott for almost a decade - and Walsh has revealed in the past that the pair are in no rush to walk down the aisle.

The songstress hopes February 14 would be a date that her boyfriend avoids proposing on, as she finds the romantic day a little bit predictable.

She told The Mirror: “Valentine’s Day is a bit of a cliché. Every Valentine’s Day would be the day you got engaged, and then you would have to celebrate them both together.

She added: “I want to spread it out. Then you get more celebrations throughout the year.”

Walsh received a wedding proposal from fellow Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole this week.

After MPs voted on Tuesday (February 5) to allow same-sex couples to marry, Cole took to Twitter to ask for her bandmate's hand in marriage.

Walsh has laughed off Cole's cheeky antics.

She laughed: “She’s so naughty. The fans were going crazy. It was just a joke but as soon as she did it, I was like ‘Oh, God, what has she started’?”

Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh: "Recording my debut album was thrilling"

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh was in her "element" while putting together her debut solo offering.

The blonde beauty's 'Centre Stage' is a collection of much-loved classic show tunes, and theatre fan Walsh says recording the album was a dream come true.

She explained to the Daily Star: "I’ve grown up listening to the great musical stars like Lea Salonga. It’s always played a big part in my life. I was thrilled when Decca Records approached me to do the album – I was completely in my element being able to re-work and record some of my all-time favourite songs."

The much-anticipated Girls Aloud tour kicks off later this month, and Walsh has gushed about being back with her bandmates after over three years apart.

She smiled: "The last few years have been incredible and I’m loving everything I’m doing right now. It’s lovely being back with the girls and being able to do my own thing as well. I never plan too far ahead, I always choose things I feel passionate about and they always lead to something else.

Walsh added: "In this business you never know what the future holds."

Kimberley Walsh: 'I couldn't handle Cheryl's level of fame'

Girls Aloud songstress Kimberley Walsh has revealed that she is impressed with Cheryl Cole's success, but explained that she wouldn't like to be that famous because it must be stressful.

Speaking to S magazine, the newly solo singer confessed that the thought of people constantly photographing you and following you around doesn't appeal to her:

"I don't know if I'd deal with that as well as Cheryl does. Wherever you go it creates a scene. She copes really well, but then she's got close family around her and she's also got us."

Despite speculating on how she might cope with extreme levels of fame, Walsh added that she's very "chilled out" and she keeps a level head outside of her day job: "I'm quite chilled-out as a person and my family always say, 'you have a good temperament for this job because things go over your head.' My job is extraordinary but my life outside work is very normal."

She also opened up about her solo work and confessed that she wanted introduce showtunes to a younger generation: "The idea is to turn some of the songs on their head and bring something different to them, and also I want to introduce them to the younger generation - you know, our fans and people who wouldn't usually buy a musicals album."

Kimberley Walsh confirms solo album release

Kimberley Walsh has announced that she will be releasing her debut solo album next year.

The singer is currently featuring on reality show Strictly Come Dancing and is part of Girls Aloud's tenth anniversary reunion.

The pop group are releasing a greatest hits album and going on tour next year, but Walsh has confirmed that she will be bringing out her solo album 'Centre Stage' on February 4.

It will contain a selection of covers inspired by musicals - an area which Walsh has worked in before. She said:

"I've always loved musical theatre and doing Shrek! The Musical definitely reignited the passion in me. I really wanted to share the love I have for musical theatre by taking some classic songs and completely reinventing them."

Walsh continued: "The melodies in so many musical songs are so brilliant, I knew we could create something special by experimenting with the production, and I really feel like we've come up with some interesting takes on classic songs. I was in my absolute element recording it and really felt like I was discovering new tones to my voice and really pushing myself vocally. I loved every minute of recording this album. I really felt like I was going back to my roots."

The Girls Aloud beauty and professional dance partner Pasha Kovalev will be performing a sultry salsa on Strictly Come Dancing this evening.

Blonde beauty Walsh will descend onto the dance floor in a silver hoop, and the star has explained to The Sun that her raunchy routine has required inspiration from one of her ultimate pop idols.

Walsh explained: “We’re dancing to her track Naughty Girl and this entrance is definitely something Beyoncé’s alter ego Sasha Fierce would do. She’d probably be doing forward rolls up there on the hoop. I’ve also got a couple of risqué lifts which, if they work, will look amazing.

She continued: “But my Sasha Fierce definitely needs to kick in because I can’t perform a song like this as me. It would be too inhibiting — I’d be so aware of myself. I’ll probably just try to pretend I am Beyoncé. And she would definitely not be frightened of this routine so I’m just going to go for it."

Walsh has also been busy with a Girls Aloud reunion of late . The five-piece recently released new single 'Something New' and announced a 12-date UK tour.

Kimberley Walsh has revealed her joy at reforming Girls Aloud.

The popular group are celebrating their tenth anniversary in November and they recently announced plans to celebrate the milestone with a greatest hits album and a 2013 tour.

In an interview with Look magazine, Walsh has expressed her relief over being able to now speak freely about the reunion.

The singer, who is appearing in this year's Strictly Come Dancing, added that having all five ladies socialising with each other more regularly has helped smooth their reformation. She said:

"Finally, it's all out in the open and everyone knows what our plans are. Now we're starting all the discussions for our TV performances, the tour and videos. It's really exciting!"

Walsh continued: "Nadine [Coyle] moved to LA, so she wasn't around to come to nights out and dinners, so she was obviously going to feel a bit distant. But over the past year we've seen so much of each other that it feels like it's back to normal now."

Girls Aloud are due to release their greatest hits album 'Ten' on November 26 and they will tour the UK and Ireland in February and March next year.

"It’s just normal. I like to chill. I know it’s something that we’ll want to do at some point, but time is an issue. I’ve been so busy, marriage is not something I’m thinking about."

Kimberley Walsh has revealed that Girls Aloud have seen more of each other than people think.

The 30-year-old, currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing, told The Sun that the group have been in regular contact with each other during the last 12 months in order to organise their upcoming reunion:

“Everything is about to be announced, our plans will be out there on Friday. But we have been meeting with Nadine over the past year to discuss Girls Aloud stuff and we have managed to not get pictured together.

"We want the comeback to have some impact so we have been a bit cheeky with that.

“We have seen more of each other than people think over the past year.To come back as a group you have to feel like a group again so we have all been bonding. It was important that we found that again.”

The Shrek The Musical actress, who last month admitted that she was originally too soft for the music business, also spoke of how proud she was after seeing Cheryl Cole perform on her current arena tour:

“It was amazing, I was so proud of Cheryl. I have seen her perform before obviously but seeing her do a full-on show like that, I felt like a proud mother.

"And it was so nice to sit back and watch someone else perform. It was the first time we have released a picture of us girls together.”

Kimberley Walsh: I was too soft for the music business

Kimberley Walsh had admitted that she was too soft for the music business at the beginning of Girls Aloud’s career.

The 30-year-old, currently a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, told The Sun that she soon realised she’d have to toughen up once she earned her place in the Popstars: The Rivals band:

“In the beginning, I always tried to see the best in people but I soon realised I was naive in that respect. I was too soft for the business.

“The other girls were tougher and I began to think to myself, ‘I’ve got to start getting my opinions through – otherwise I’ll be walked all over.”

The Shrek The Musical actress, who recently revealed she was coached by Cheryl Cole in preparation for the dance show, also went on to recall the first time that she met two of her bandmates:

“Cheryl came up to me and said I had lovely skin. She wanted to know what foundation I used. She was so quiet, shy and really fresh-faced. I remember thinking that it took courage for her to approach me like that and I liked her for it.

“Nicola Roberts also caught my eye. I spotted her in the audition queue with red hair going all the way down to her bum and thought, ‘Wow, she looks striking and unusual.’"

Kimberley Walsh promises 'Strictly Come Dancing' won't interfere with Girls Aloud plans

Singer and stage star Kimberley Walsh recently signed up to appear in the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing', but has reassured fans that this new role won't affect Girls Aloud reunion events.

Speaking to OK! magazine, the beauty explained that she is excited to take part in the programme and is looking forward to a new experience, but is relieved that it doesn't clash with any pre-arranged commitments involving her girl group:

"I'll just have to work really hard. Being on Strictly won't hold anything up that we already had planned. I'm going to get in trouble if I say any more!"

"It's a really big decision to take part in a show like this. It's so huge and everyone loves it. It's a pressure, isn't it? But I think I made the right decision."

Tweeting about her dance rehearsal earlier today (September 25), she wrote: "Yey we are definitely making progress! Finally able to stop cringing at myself in the mirror ha...well most of the time! All good #scd"
