Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has thanked her fans for their words of support following her grandfather's death.

The star is mourning the loss of her beloved family member, and has been offered encouraging messages from her loyal followers.

Taking to Twitter, Walsh said: "Thank you for all your lovely messages about my Grandad. He was the most wonderful man and the best Grandad anyone could ever wish for. Xxx (sic)."

Walsh recently told Britain's OK! magazine that she recently lost her grandad explaining: "It doesn't matter how amazing your life might seem to other people... if anything's not going well or I'm having a tough time - I lost my grandad recently - it throws you off...

She adeed: "He was nearly 93, he had an amazing life and he was an amazing person, but it's still hard to go through those experiences. So when everything's good, I'm happy. I don't have much to complain about. It's hard because you think they (family members) are always going to be there and then they're not."
