Kings of Leon land first US No.1 album with 'WALLS'

It has taken them seven attempts, but Kings of Leon now have a US No.1 album.

The rock group reached the peak of the Billboard 200 with their new effort 'WALLS'.

It sold 77,000 equivalent album units in its first week on sale, with 68,000 coming via traditional album sales.

Kings of Leon previously twice peaked at No.2 on the chart, with 2010's 'Come Around Sundown' and 2013's 'Mechanical Bull' both grabbing silver medals.

In contrast, the US group's last five albums have reached No.1 in the UK.

Kings of Leon beat Drake's 'Views' and the Suicide Squad soundtrack to top this week's US chart.
