Kings Of Leon to kick off festival season with Radio 1's Big Weekend

Kings of Leon are set to play BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Hull. The event will take place on the 27 and 28 May.

It's Europe's largest free ticketed festival and coincides with Hull's City of Culture celebrations for 2017.

Radio 1's Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw has announced the news and said in a statement: "I'm super excited for Big Weekend as it kicks off festival season and always has a mega line-up of the best live music."

The American rockers have also been confirmed to headline the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park in London next year.

The "Sex on Fire" hitmakers will grace the Great Oak Stage this summer at the London music festival on July 6.

Member Nathan Followill admitted that they're all really excited about the booking: "It's always a pleasure to party with our amazing fans at Hyde Park."
