Kylie Minogue to quit The Voice

Kylie Minogue is set to leave The Voice after the completion of her first and only series on the UK show.

The Aussie pop star is quitting her role as a coach on the BBC talent show due to the next cycle of filming clashing with her other work commitments.

Minogue told The Mirror: "I'm touring this year and the timings wouldn't work. We started filming in November last year for the show and this year I'm on tour in September, October and November."

Kylie also admitted that she has found working on The Voice to be a testing challenge:

“Being on the show is a huge commitment. I have loved it although there have been parts which have been really difficult, too taxing and emotional. You can't second guess yourself. You deal with a lot of decisions and emotions.”

Fellow Voice coach Sir Tom Jones has spoken out about Kylie Minogue’s decision to leave and has urged the BBC to sign her up for another series.

Also speaking to The Mirror, Jones stated: “The BBC should do whatever they can to keep Kylie. It works how it is right now. With the four of us [Ricky Wilson and Will.i.am complete The Voice coaching line-up], I think it’s a good combination. It’s working now, so why spoil it? Why change it?”

Kylie Minogue’s addition to the show has given The Voice a boost in ratings as last Saturday’s (March 16) average viewing figure of 6.7 million was up by two million on the previous series.
