Pint-sized pop icon Kylie Minogue is helping to plan the New Year's Eve festivities in Sydney, Australia that will take place in a few weeks.

The songstress has turned party-planner to ensure that the city has the best celebratory event possible and while she won't be performing, Minogue has been named the official New Year's Eve ambassador and she has chosen the colour scheme and general theme for the evening.

She selected a variety of magenta, yellow, purple and red to represent her 'Embrace' theme and it will be incorporated into the night's fireworks display.

Speaking about her involvement, Minogue explained: "Embrace is all about acceptance, tolerance, diversity and above all, love. In a city of great diversity we come together at New Year's Eve to embrace the future and celebrate all that we are, and the potential that tomorrow holds."

"It's also about that magical moment at midnight when we throw our arms around the people we love and express our happiness... This year I want everyone to embrace during the fireworks. Whether it's embracing new ideas, change and opportunities or just giving a big hug to your family and friends, it's something everyone can get involved in."
