Labrinth slams boss Simon Cowell's X Factor: 'It's not about music'

'Earthquake' hitmaker Labrinth has revealed that despite being signed to music mogul Simon Cowell's Syco label, he doesn't enjoy watching his televised talent contest 'The X Factor' because it doesn't focus on creating artists.

Labrinth made such an impact on Cowell that he was Syco's first non-talent show signing in six years, but admitted to Yahoo! that the programme doesn't help set people up with careers as musicians and is more focused on branding and shaping individual singers:

"I don't watch it - it isn't interesting to me. I think X Factor is… The X Factor, that's it. It's not my thing, but if you want to be a singer then Simon Cowell is your man, but if you are an artist you do your own thing."

His new single, entitled 'Treatment', is due to be released on September 9 although he released the official music video for the cut back at the beginning of August.
