Lady Gaga: 'Tony Bennett has changed my life'

Lady Gaga has spoken of the impact Tony Bennett has had on her career and outlook.

The singer has joined forces with the 88-year-old crooner for the jazz duets album 'Cheek to Cheek', which will be released on September 23.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph in an interview published at the weekend (September 7), the US star said Bennett suggested to her that her full talent isn't being realised in pop.

She said: "So when I say 'at this point in my career', he's changed my life for me because he's gonna make my art better from this moment on. Because he said: 'Hey, you're so much better than you're even letting yourself be'."

Gaga meanwhile said in the same interview that her label and producers have previously tried to alter her voice.

The 'Applause' star said: "They really control you, especially in the beginning. Although it was still my songs, and I still had a lot to say about the production, the vocal was something that they really, really wanted to control. So my vocal presence has been kind of the smallest presence about me for a long time. So everything else becomes the focal point."
