Lady Gaga denies 'ARTPOP' hasn't been successful

Lady Gaga has defended her album 'ARTPOP', saying it has "inspired" fans across the globe.

The singer released the chart-topping record in 2013, but some have suggested that it hasn't been as potent as her earlier material.

The US star is currently touring the album across the world and she took to Instagram to Tuesday (September 16) to state that her doubters have been getting it all wrong.

Gaga said alongside an audience shot from a recent gig: "Beautiful crowd tonight just sensational, know every word to 'ARTPOP'.

"It's unfortunate the media gave the impression it hasn't been successful, when in truth it inspired many fans all over the world and is a wonderful success bridging contemporary art, rave, and love. I've loved every moment of this music and tour."

The album meanwhile has seen the release of singles 'Applause', 'Do What U Want' and 'G.U.Y.'.
