Lady Gaga consulted White House before Israel show

Lady Gaga has revealed that she took advice from the US government before playing in Israel recently.

The American singer performed in Tel Aviv on September 13 as part of her ARTPOP Ball world tour.

However, recent conflict in the area has seen numerous acts pull shows in the country.

Lana Del Rey, Neil Young and the Backstreet Boys have all cancelled gigs in Israel due to tensions in the Gaza strip.

Gaga has now told the Associated Press that she sought reassurance from the White House before deciding to play in the region.

She said: "I was very confident [about the trip] based on my relationships with lots of internal, political people. We're very lucky to have great relationships with the White House. They let us know it would be very safe while we were there, and I hope to share that with the world so that they know it is safe to be in Tel Aviv right now...

"I felt a beautiful energy when I was there."
