Lady Gaga says Amy Winehouse was one of the 'greats'

Lady Gaga believes Amy Winehouse was akin to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

The US star recently teamed up with veteran crooner Tony Bennett to release the duets album 'Cheek to Cheek'.

Speaking in a new interview with the Independent, Gaga said that she looked up to the likes of Winehouse and Fitzgerald when working on the record.

She said: "Amy [Winehouse] was great, and Ella Fitzgerald was so great, and Billie Holiday.

"You always want to listen to the greats."

Bennett previously collaborated with Winehouse in 2011 on the duet 'Body and Soul' and he was asked how working with Gaga compared to Winehouse.

He said: "Well, it was different, you know? Amy Winehouse was just a born jazz singer. Completely, at all times. I never heard anything quite like it out of a young child. I couldn't believe it – she was just as good as anybody that ever sang jazz. But there's something about Lady."
