Lady Gaga takes part in icy river plunge for charity

Lady Gaga braved the cold this weekend for a charity river plunge.

The singer and fiance Taylor Kinney took part in the Polar Plunge in Chicago on Sunday (March 1) in aid of the Special Olympics.

They dipped into the icy Lake Michigan alongside 4,500 other fundraisers.

Gaga uploaded a number of photos to Instagram of her efforts, saying:

"Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics.

"It's great donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it."

Adding about her hair, which developed bits of ice after the plunge, Gaga wrote:

"My weave froze!! Taylor gave me his hat I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake."
