Gaga gets David Bowie tattoo ahead of Grammy Awards tribute

Lady Gaga has gone and got herself a Ziggy Stardust tattoo on the side of her body, ahead of tomorrow’s (February 15) Grammy Awards Tribute to David Bowie.

It was done by a famous tattoo artist, Mark Mahoney, in Los Angeles last night (February 13). The experience was caught on camera and shared on social media.

The "Til It Happens To You' singer was quoted as saying, before the lengendary star's death:

"I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls.

"He is a true, true artist and I don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what drew me to him."

Earlier this month, Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich told the New York Times that Gaga had already been booked to perform at the Grammys prior to Bowie's death, and as the tribute came together, it made sense for her to perform it solo.

The Grammys are set to air live on CBS tomorrow night, February 15.

We also reported recently that Lady Gaga is to be the recipient of this year's Grammy Museum's Jane Ortner Artist Award.

The prize recognises artists who have displayed passion for promoting education through the arts.

The US star will pick up the award at the Grammy Museum's Jane Ortner Education Award Luncheon on April 4 at Ron Burkle's Green Acres home in Beverly Hills.
