Lady Gaga: 'I feel like my whole career is a tribute to David Bowie'

Lady Gaga says the spirit of David Bowie has been with her ever since she started making music.

The singer paid tribute to the late musician at this year's Grammy Awards with a live medley.

However, the US star told NPR that her entire career has been inspired by Bowie.

Gaga said when asked how it feels now her Bowie tribute is now finished:

"How do I feel now that it's over? I mean, I feel like my whole career is a tribute to David Bowie. So it's not! It's ongoing, right? It's still going.

"I've been watching his videos all day long, and also listening to 'Blackstar', his last album, which is a truly incredible piece of music. It's one of the single greatest things an artist has ever done: making a masterpiece album that is their own eulogy.

“Can you imagine? To go into the studio every day and put your heart in that place, where you are saying goodbye to life? I mean, his art made him strong."

A couple of days before the Grammys performance, Gaga inked a Ziggy Stardust tattoo on the side of her body.

Bowie passed away in January at the age of 69 after a secret battle with cancer.
