Lady Gaga forced to cancel Montréal gig due to sickness

Lady Gaga said that she was "devastated" to be forced to cancel a gig in Montréal, Canada last night (September 4), after falling ill.

The superstar explained on Twitter that she had fallen sick after performing in the rain at her Queens concert in New York on August 29. Gaga wrote on Twitter:

"I'm so sorry Montréal. We are working on postponing the show. Please read this message from my [heart] below," alongside an attached statement and a picture of herself. The statement read:

"To my beautiful fans. I couldn't be more devastated that I am unable to perform tonight.

"I sing this entire show live, and pride myself in giving it all, but when I sang in the rain at Citi Field I got sick and have been pushing through. I am so sorry to anyone who had their heart set on seeing me tonight. I love you." She later tweeted:

"I'm sending free [pizza] to any monsters outside my hotel The William Gray Montréal.

"I love u so much & I'm so sorry u are the most loyal fans."

Gaga had joked on Twitter a few days ago that playing at Citi Field had given her a cold, but added that the "show must go on" after a fan shared a video of her sneezing during another show.

As yet, it is not known when the Montréal concert will be rescheduled for, or whether any other dates will be affected. She has a few shows remaining on the North American leg of her World Tour, then South America and Europe, before returning to North America for several more dates at the end of the year.

Lady Gaga announced earlier this year that she will be getting her own Netflix documentary titled, Gaga: Five Foot Two which is set for a worldwide release on Netflix later this month on September 22.

The documentary will take an intimate look at a year in Gaga's life and is directed by Chris Moukarbel (Banksy Does New YorkMe @ The Zoo). It will follow Gaga through the moments leading up to her Super Bowl performance in Houston, Texas.
