Gaga apologises for 'retarded' comment

Lady Gaga has publicly aplogised for her use of the word 'retarded' during a recent interview with the NME, in which she defended claims that her track 'Born This Way' had plagiarised Madonna

The 'Judas' pop icon originally told the reporter:

"I am not stupid enough to put a record out and be that moronic. Why would I try to put a song out and think I'm getting one over on everybody? That's retarded."

Reinforcing her point, Gaga added assertively:

“What a completely ridiculous thing to even question me about. I will look you in your eyes and tell you that I am not dumb enough or moronic enough to think that you are dumb enough or moronic enough not to see that I would have stolen a melody."

But now, a few days on, she has faced criticism over her word choice and issued a brief statement to perezhilton.com which read:

"My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully. To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional."
