Lady Gaga will make her film debut in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez film Machete Kills.

Rodriguez, who has directed flicks such as Sin City, Spy Kids and From Dusk Till Dawn, announced the news on Twitter last night (July 26).

He said that he has been working with Gaga on Machete Kills, which is said to feature the likes of Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson and Vanessa Hudgens.

Rodriguez tweeted a photo of Gaga's sultry looking character along with the words:

"I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!"

The singer meanwhile later confirmed the news, tweeting:

"Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress ln the amazing MACHETE KILLS BY @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane."
