Pop superstar Lady Gaga has thanked her fans for supporting her following her recent weight gain.

Last week, the 'Born This Way' icon opened up about her slightly curvier shape and explained that eating at her father's Italian restauarant in New York City has caused her to put on around 25lbs although the change in her body doesn't bother her at all.

Despite Gaga's healthy body image, she has been met with some negativity and took to her official Twitter page over the weekend to thank her 29.6 million followers for standing by her regardless of her weight:

"And thank to my fans who love me no matter what, and know the meaning of real beauty & compassion. I really love you."

She then posted a link to a photo (pictured below) that had been uploaded to her LittleMonsters.com social networking website with an empowering message about self-worth.
