Lady Gaga wants an end to "fan wars"

Lady Gaga has called upon her fans to cut out "wars" with devotees of other artists.

The rise of social networking website Twitter has dramatically increased the level of rivalry between fans of big music acts.

However, it is something that Gaga wants to see an end of, with the 'ARTPOP' star tweeting:

"Let's make 2013 a year where music/talent/artistry is more important than gossip/fanwars I respect all fanbases 4 their passion #BeTheChange."

She also retweeted a fan who said: "SO AGREE! There's room at the table for everyone. Why does liking one artist mean I'm suppose to trash the others?"

It seems that friction between Gaga and Katy Perry lovers was one of the main fan wars in question.

The two US singers, who both have albums coming out soon, recently supported each other on Twitter after their new singles were leaked online.
