Lady Gaga: 'Hip surgery has made me a better dancer'

'Applause' hitmaker Lady Gaga has revealed that the injury she sustained earlier this year ended up being beneficial to her because the surgery she had for it gave her "better rotation".

It was confirmed that she had suffered a labral tear back in February although she recently confessed that the injury was far more serious and she had in fact broken her hip. As a result, she axed the remaining dates of her Born This Way Ball tour and has only now emerged with new music and a new video.

Speaking to Kiss FM in the UK, Gaga explained that the operation she underwent has helped her to become a stronger dancer: "They actually re-sculpted my right hip ... I have better rotation now. I'm actually a better dancer now than I was before!"

She also spoke about her impending live performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs, which will take place on August 25 in Brooklyn, and added that "I'm so excited, I can't wait, you can't imagine how it felt for me to be away from the stage."

"I don't want to give too much away but it is the most physically challenging performance I've done, ever. We've been rehearsing for a very long time, I've been rehearsing every day until my feet bleed."
