Lady Gaga: 'Something has to be done in order to stop cyber-bullying'

Superstar Lady Gaga has spoken out about the rise of cyber-bullying in today's society and admitted that it's shocking to think that nothing has been done to try and prevent it on a wide scale.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1's Scott Mills, she explained that it's incredibly sad to see the impact that anonymous online abuse can have on people and wants there to be some kind of control in order to stop it from happening:

"You go on the internet and especially Twitter and the things I see really shock me. If we were to monitor it better, it would be safer. This is the age we live in - this faceless cyber-bullying. There's no accountability, there's no recourse. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech but there's a line that needs to be drawn when the language becomes abusive."

She added: "Twitter and other social media platforms need to monitor more closely what's happening on the internet. They should spend more on making sure they take down any abusive language and suspending accounts."

"It's not something we can control. The only people who can control it are the companies that run these sites, and they're putting money into the promotion of the site and the platform, not into monitoring."
