Lady Gaga on recent break from the spotlight: 'I didn't miss fame'

Modern pop icon Lady Gaga has confessed that while bowing out of the spotlight to recover from a hip injury (pictured below) was devastating, she didn't miss the constant attention and intrusions into her privacy.

She explained to BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw that having to lay low in order to recuperate really showed her that fame isn't the aspect of her career that she enjoys and lusts after:

"I'm really happy to be back and I do feel back, because even though I'm present in my mind as a person, I don't really feel truly alive unless I'm on stage. I missed being on stage. I always love seeing my fans outside, but I wouldn't say I missed the fame, if that makes any sense."

"I think what I've realised more than anything is that I'm really not in it for that at all."

Despite her recent hiatus from the scene, Gaga added that it gave her a great amount of uninterrupted time to be creative and write music: "I've been planning it ('ARTPOP'). The downtime was really good for me because I love creating and I love songwriting, so I really got to make love to the music."
