Lady Gaga debuts at No.1 in the UK with new album 'ARTPOP'

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has shot straight into No.1 in the midweek albums chart update this afternoon with her brand new record, 'ARTPOP'.

Her new album has shifted an impressive 47,000 copies in its first two days of release in the UK, putting her at No.1 in today's midweeks. She is also a whopping 17,000 copies ahead of her closest competitor, which is Celine Dion with 'Loved Me Back To Life' at No.2

If Gaga retains her lead until the positions are confirmed this coming Sunday, November 17, 'ARTPOP' will give her a third UK No.1 album. Former chart-topper Eminem has slipped to No.3 with his latest cut, 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2'.

'X Factor' winners Little Mix have made an impressive appearance at No.4 with 'Salute', and The Killers have rounded off the Top 5 with their best of collection, entitled 'Direct Hits'.

Elsewhere in the UK Top 40 albums chart, Tinie Tempah's 'Demonstration' is at No.16, Miley Cyrus is at No.30 with 'Bangerz', and The Wanted's 'Word Of Mouth' is at 33.
