Gaga won't be joining the 27 Club

Lady Gaga has reassured her fans that she isn't planning on passing away in the near future.

The singer is currently 27 years old and that age is associated with the untimely deaths of a number of famous musicians.

Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse all died at 27, but Gaga is quoted by The Sun as saying that she intends to live on in the future. The US star said:

"I want to live and I want my fans to live. I don't want them to torture themselves in the way I have. I want to show people that I will last past 27 and I will last longer, and so will you."

She added: "I want to change this code in the atmosphere that in order to be remembered, I must die young, that in order to be remembered as a legend, I must be dead first. This is unhealthy."

Gaga meanwhile is expected to top the US albums chart soon with her latest effort 'ARTPOP'.

However, it is estimated to sell 75% less copies than her previous record 'Born This Way', which shifted 1.1m units in 2011.
