Lady Gaga unveils life-size singing doll: "Who needs Barbies?"

Lady Gaga has been immortalised in a life-size singing doll in Japan.

The figure, dubbed the GAGADOLL, mimics the US star in appearance and plays her music when someone's head is placed on her chest.

Universal Japan have uploaded a video that looks at the making of the doll before finishing with the GAGADOLL in action as a user listens to a clip of 'Applause'.

Tweeting about the invention, Gaga said: "Who needs barbies when you can own your own life size pop star that sings to you."

She added a photo of herself sitting alongside two of the dolls.

The 'ARTPOP' star meanwhile had previously tweeted that she is preparing for promotional work in Japan, saying:

"Rehearsing for Japanese TV! Im always so honored by the beautiful sets they build for me here, I can't wait! First stop SMAP X SMAP!"
