Lana Del Rey: 'My most meaningful relationships are with my icons'

'West Coast' songstress Lana Del Rey has revealed that she feels as though the relationships she has with icons, such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, are her strongest.

Speaking to the New York Times recently, Del Rey explained that an icon is supposed to have that kind of power over members of the public and she feels very connected to them:

"I have strong relationships with icons. They're probably my most meaningful relationships. They feel personal to me, but maybe that's what being an icon is. Maybe everyone feels like they have that special relationship that's different from everybody else, like you love them and you think you understand them more than anyone else, or you get them for who they really are."

The beauty also went onto add that finding inspiration in contemporary music is difficult for her because she is rarely influenced or moved by anything modern or new: "Think of what's going on now. Where am I going to get my inspiration? I couldn't think of a thing today that I would really genuinely want to be a part of."
