Lana Del Rey scores second No. 1 album with 'Ultraviolence'

Lana Del Rey has achieved her second chart-topping album with her sophomore LP ‘Ultraviolence’.

‘Ultraviolence’ is the follow up to her 2012 major label debut ‘Born To Die’ which also premiered at the top of the UK albums chart.

The ‘West Coast’ singer comfortably reached No. 1 by outselling her closest competitors – Linkin Park – by two copies to one. Linkin Park’s sixth album ‘The Hunting Party’ has now charted at No. 2.

The rest of this week’s top five is made up by a non-mover at No. 3 from Sam Smith with ‘In The Lonely Hour’, Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories’ down two to No. 4, and last week’s chart-topper from Kasabian - ‘48:13’ - has now fallen to No. 5.

New entries to the rest of this week’s album chart include Deadmau5 at No. 14 with ‘While (1<2)’, Tiesto’s ‘A Town Called Paradise’ at No. 22, and The Klaxons at No. 39 with ‘Love Frequency’. Just missing out on the top 40 is Jennifer Lopez with ‘AKA’ reaching No. 41.

This week’s highest climber comes from Ed Sheeran with his 2011 debut ‘+’ soaring 41 places to No. 9. His new record ‘x’ is released in the UK tomorrow (June 23).
