Lana Del Rey covers Shirley Bassey classic

A cover of Shirley Bassey’s 'Big Spender’ featuring a surprise guest appearance from Lana Del Rey is to be released next week.

According to the NME, the 25-year-old star originally laid down her vocals on the track in 2010 when she was working in the same studio as Smiler, a British grime MC who has previously collaborated with Pete Doherty.

But following the huge success of her debut album, 'Born To Die,' which was knocked off the UK top spot by Emeli Sande’s 'Our Version Of Events' yesterday, the hip-hop reworking of the Welsh diva’s 60s hit is to be officially released on the rapper’s 'All I Know' mix-tape on Feb 27.

The news comes just a week after Polydor President Ferdy Unger-Hamilton revealed that the American singer had recorded enough material to fill three albums, some of which is likely to appear on the future deluxe edition of 'Born To Die' later this year.
