GERAINT RHYS New Single

Give It Up - OUT TOMORROW

Watch Here

With an upbeat guitar riff inspired by the stylings of Johnny Marr and expressive, poignant lyrics, Geraint Rhys is back with his third and final single of the Trilogy, ‘Give It Up’

After the success of the second of these singles ‘Visca La Terra’ about the Catalan Independence movement, which after being released mid-September 2017 has already gained over 90,000 views. For the new single, the Welsh singer sought inspiration from the political events of Brexit and the election of Trump, thus making the track about who possesses the power.

Geraint says –

“For me I felt a great distance with anything and everything I was seeing unfold in front of me and had to write something about it. The track is therefore about power and wondering who really has it.”

Geraint has paired up with Mexican director Monica Gonzalez- Carter to create the visual for the track, giving the video a dark and playful vibe.

The contrast between the pretty guitar riffs and probing dark lyrics, playing with the idea of innocence, we created a story where there is a very thin line between beauty and barbarity, making this video a must see. Working with a Mexican director and having it filmed in Mexico obviously has a clear political stance on Donald Trump’s poisonous narrative ‘We need to build bridges not walls.’

Geraint has made an impression within the music scene after the release of his Welsh language track ‘Ble Mae’r Haul’ and his single ‘Eternal Sunshine’ gaining significant plays on 6 Music, BBC Radio and Television across the UK. This gained him support of DJ’s across the country and naming him ‘Welsh Artist of the Week’
