Lauryn Hill releases new music

Lauryn Hill has rush released a new song called 'Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)'.

The song has been released by Hill's label, Obverse Creation, without any prior warning or promotion due to "an impending legal deadline."

Hill took to Tumblr to explain the situation:

"Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there."

The ex-Fugees singer continued by relating the moral of her new song to the recent death of Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly: "In light of Wednesday's tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today's unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked."

'Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)' is Lauryn Hill's first new music release since her 2010 single 'Repercussions'. The singer signed a deal with Sony earlier this year which allowed her to set up her own record label.

She is due to face sentencing over unpaid taxes on May 6.
